The gang all showed up for this photo session!
Our family rounded out my maternity leave and said goodbye to this awful winter by heading to the most beautiful ocean and soaking in some much-needed Vitamin D. Madeline had her first flight (Samuel's 30th..lucky kid, I tell yah ;) and experienced sunshine for the first time. She has never seen sun so bright, felt the heat, or the sand in between her tiny toes...life of a winter baby! (and boy, can't we all agree that this winter was a rough one!) Samuel was thrilled to return to the Bahamas, and spent the majority of his time running the beach or flying airborne into the pool. Permanent smiles all around.
This season has been a complete mix of emotions, as any newborn mother could attest to. As I enter into a new season of work, and our family settles into our permanent home in Ann Arbor, I find myself feeling fortunate and full of anticipation! 2018, you're going to be incredible.
A HUGE thank you to Amanda at Amanda Estep Photography for capturing Madeline at 3 weeks old. Anyone looking for a family or newborn photographer in the greater Columbus area, I highly recommend her! (She also did our maternity session this past Fall)
Madeline Grace was born on December 15th, and it seems impossible that that was already two months ago! We can't imagine our family without her. In that time, we celebrated the holidays, hosted multiple visitors, fought off sicknesses (every week, it seems!) and signed our names 100000 times while purchasing our new home last week.
We've been busy :) and happy :) and slightly sleep deprived.
I had made a deal with myself that I wouldn't make a concrete "return from maternity leave" date until I was able to get some sleep, settle in a bit with two kiddos, and feel confident I could return to work giving my clients my best. I've certainly fought the desire to begin shooting families RIGHT AWAY, if not just as a reprieve from the cabin fever that a winter baby provides. (Thankfully, I didn't act on that because no amount Starbucks could have made up for my zombie-like state). As the fog of newborn-hood begins to clear, and being a family of four is becoming our "norm," I find myself yearning to create and connect once again.
During this time away, I've been able to 100% commit myself to my family, doing the most important "job" I will ever have, being a wife and a mother. For that, I am forever grateful. Yet, the passion inside of me to capture that for others runs deep, and I'm full of anticipation as I return to my second "job" too- You.
I'm currently booking Spring sessions, to begin April 1st. Looking forward to an amazing year of serving you!
On Friday, December 15th, we met our newest addition! A daughter. Meet Madeline Grace.
We adore her.
I'll be taking some time off while we settle in as a family of four. Looking forward to coming back in the New Year!
A very Merry Christmas to you and yours, and the Happiest of Years Ahead!!
Maybe it's the fact that Henry and Jack are two of my favorite boy names, but I just adored working with this family. Down to earth, so kind and right in the middle of the fun (and challenging) years of raising their boys. We met at Molly and Jim's home, which provided a gorgeous backdrop for us - large lawn, long driveway, and this great little carriage house in the back that most would pay to be photographed in front of. I love that they will be able to look back at these images and picture what life was like with their 4 and 1 year old - playing, cuddles, jumping, running, laughing and a little bit of bribing when necessary ;) (which, by the way, is necessary 99.9% of the time when it comes to kiddos and photos.) Henry and Jack will never be able to deny how much their parents adore and love them, simply from looking at these photographs of a simple morning playing with their mom and dad.
Natalie and I met years ago, while both volunteering for a group that supported medical families and spouses in Ann Arbor. Fast forward a few years and children later, and we both end up living in Columbus, Ohio! One thing I love about medicine is the connections you make and keep - it's a bonding mechanism! She and Brian are the kindest, most down to earth people and I'm so thankful they have settled in UA so we could enjoy a fun year with them while we are here. We did a mini-session together at a park right around the corner from their new home, perfect location to represent their lives here as they settle long term in Columbus!
