Are you thinking of the song “Meet Virginia?” Me too! Ginny was greeted by big sister, Margaret, this past summer and you guessed it, Maggie is loving having a little sister. I’ve had the privilege of photographing Maggie since she was born and I can hardly believe that the years went by this quickly. As the photographer, getting to watch their lives unfold, grow and change shoot after shoot brings such a joy and fulfillment in capturing it for them. I love this growing family!
Over the holidays, we escaped to some sunshine and landed in Puerto Rico. I dragged my camera and lens all the way there, and never took It out until the last hour before we headed to the airport. We were way too busy swimming, napping, building sand castles and eating- lots of eating. I managed to capture some memories on my phone, but glad we didn't leave the island without a few candids from the beach. Sam LOVES the beach, Madeline decided she doesn’t enjoy the sand. We have some work to do ;)
A little over three years ago, I walked into this beautiful condo, to meet to new parents and their daughter, Adriana. They had family in town, and each was just loving on their newborn like it was there very own. Just before Thanksgiving, I walked into their new home, filled with the adorning extended family members, as they introduced me to their newest addition, Javier. Our children are the same age range apart, so it was easy to chat about the excitement and difficulties and all-things-baby-number-2.
You see, using a camera is only part of why I love this career. Connecting with people- that’s where the real heart lies. The equipment is just an extension of a deep seeded belief that people matter, stories matter, and I want to share them and serve them. To be honest, it feels strange to me to just walk into someone’s home and start shooting right away, because this ‘job’ is so much more than poses and lighting. Okay, off my tangent… this family is just a perfect example of why I love my clients and I love my job :)
It’s easy to love photographing newborns with their older siblings- the very experience of bringing home number 2 still feels so fresh as we are approaching our daughter’s first birthday (😂).
The realty of the joy, excitement, exhaustion, change of family dynamic and attention- all so real! It’s not easy, but man, being able to have another miracle is more than worth it.
The M Family welcomed Javier just a few weeks ago, and photographing them filled my heart with joy! Can’t wait to share more!!
This year’s Fall Mini Day was more like a marathon….on a rainy day! BUT, even with 11 sessions back to back, chilly breeze, rain and a little wind, the day was AMAZING! I had so much fun meeting new families and getting to see returning ones again. Everyone made the best of the less than ideal weather, and were complete CHAMPS! CHAMPPPSSS!! I can’t wait to share all of the images with the families (which should arrive in inboxes later today!!!), until then….here are just a few.
Happy Thursday!! If you're not following along on Instagram, join me! You may have seen some behind- the-scenes from this shoot this week. (Also, I recently moved all my business ‘gram to my personal…so enjoy seeing pictures of our children, behind-the-scenes life, the good and bad ;)
Rebecca and I met when we moved this past summer. Her mother is our neighbor, and has become a great friend. Rebecca and Justin often come over and we’ve gotten to know them over the past few months. They are expecting their first child in TWO weeks (I know, she is rocking pregnancy, look at her!!). Her childhood home has this magnificent oak tree that stands in the front yard. It overshadows half of the yard, and is simply breathtaking. When Rebecca asked me about doing their maternity images, she mentioned she would LOVE to have them under this tree. Welp, that was no brainer ;) I’m so honored to have done this for them, and can hardly wait to capture their daughter next month. Their joy is palpable now, just wait until they get to hold their firstborn…nothing like it!
